The 33-year-old Shillong Lajong FC took a smart monetizing venture on Wednesday and launched its first Mobile Smartphone showroom in their home city Shillong to sustain the operations of the football club.
Larsing Ming Sawyan, CEO and Managing Director of the Indian I-League club, wrote a blog post on its official website, “In the absence of traditional revenue models for football clubs in India such as broadcasting revenue, central sponsorships etc, we have decided to look at unique revenue models to sustain our operations.”
The retail outlet “The Mobile Centre” which is located at Police Bazaar was inaugurated by the club officials, Coaching staff, and the players. It will cater to a wide range of mobile phones and accessories.
All proceeds made from the store will benefit the operations of the Shillong Lajong FC, which became the first professional football club from the Northeast to join the I-League in 2009.
