Rupam Sarmah achieves his first No. 1 on Billboard’s Heatseekers Mid-Atlantic Chart (dated November 4) and No.2 spot on Billboard World Music Chart, with his latest album “A Musical Journey: Together in Peace!”

He created history by becoming the first Assamese and also probably the first artist of Northeast origin to get his album featured in the Top #1 on the Billboard World Albums Chart.

The 8-track album (featuring hundreds of artists from around the world) was digitally released on iTunes and CDbaby a few months ago. Rupam Sarmah composed and produced the album blending new styles of music with Western, Neo-Classical, Jazz, New Age, and World Fusion.

Each week’s top-selling albums and singles on Billboard Charts are compiled by Nielsen Music based on sales tracking data.

Born and brought up in Jorhat (Assam), Sarmah moved to the US in 1992 and is an engineer, film director, singer-songwriter, award-winning producer, a voting member of Grammy® and Guinness World Record holder.
