2017 North East Festival announces with amazing vibes & headliners

The fifth-edition of the annual Northeast Festival 2017 will be staged again at IGNCA, Janpath (New Delhi), starting on 3rd November. The three-day festival will witness an array of artists line-up, indigenous food, travel guides, agro products and handicrafts of Northeast India.

Over 150 Northeastern weavers and artisans will exhibit their creation along with 30 food stalls dishing out delicacies of the region. The festival activities also include NEF Rock Battle for unsigned artists/bands and a football tournament. Both the competitions were based on open-to-all entries.

This year’s carnival promises to get even bigger than its previous installations. Festival-goers will get to see over 30 traditional dances including the Naga warrior dance, Thang-ta of Manipur, Hojagiri of Tripura, Bamboo dance of Mizoram, Wangala dance of Meghalaya, Lion dance of Arunachal Pradesh, among others.

“Delhi Police is one of our event partners. They will invite various Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) based in Delhi and conduct quiz competition to help create awareness about the region,” said the festival founder Shyamkanu Mahanta.

He added that the festival’s storytelling sessions on famous Northeast folk tales and tattoo artistes from the region, will interest creative lovers at large.

Celebrity designer Asa Kazingmei from Manipur will hand out his creations during a fashion parade on the finale night on 5th November. He has designed clothes for top-notch Bollywood names including Salman Khan, Shahrukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Hrithik Roshan and Amir Khan.
