The 10th Annual Sunsilk Mega Miss North East in association with Get Gorgeous Society (Dimapur) was held at DDSC stadium, Dimapur on May 10. The event styled & powered by Fashion Designer/Choreographer Abhijeet Singha, the entire event was telecast live by NE TV.
Miss Sikkim Zennyla Bhutia emerged as the winner, while Preeti Thapa of Meghalaya and Ibethoi Thokchom from Manipur bagged the 1st, and the 2nd Runners Up titles respectively.
27 finalists from the eight northeastern states competed for the coveted title. The event began with the contestants walking the ramp in casual and ethnic wear, followed by a question and answer round with the jury.
Last year’s winner Sukanya Rajguru conferred the title on Bhutia, who said it (the title) was a dream come true for her.
“I was not expecting when they announced my name. It was the most exciting moment in my life and one of my biggest dreams has come true,” she gushed.
The subtitle winners are Elken best personality – Zennyla Bhutia (Sikkim); Elken best model- Remlalmuani (Mizoram); Elken photogenic – Ibethoi Thokchom (Manipur); Elken beautiful skin – Anne Norbu (Sikkim); Karleen best traditional – Manjusri Debbarma (Tripura); and Sunsilk beautiful hair – Juhilli Debbarma (Tripura). The two and half hour show was co-hosted by Raja Ghosh, Mega Mr. North East 2012.
It was the first time the event was held in Nagaland.
The pageant opens new vistas of a modelling career for young and talented girls from the region.
