West Sikkim’s first 5-star resort at Naku Chumbong, Pelling has been inaugurated by state Chief Minister Pawan Chamling yesterday.
The Chumbi Mountain Resort & Spa is spread over three acres of land and offers an amazing view of Khangchendzonga range and is set up in a natural environment that offers hospitality in tranquility.
The design of the resort is a blend of the traditional trappings and contemporary ambience and offers guests a feel of Sikkimese culture and tradition in the comfort of a luxurious five star setting. The resort ensures to attract more tourists to West Sikkim as well as help promote Sikkim tourism further. The state has been announced as the 2014 best region in the world, by travel guide Lonely Planet recently.
Ugen Choppel, noted filmmaker and Managing Director of Chumbi Group of Hotels said during the inaugural event, “This resort is a labour of our love and as tourism stakeholders, we are committed to play a proactive role in the growth of Sikkim Tourism and took us four year and a half years to built it”.
The resort has been developed on a property flanked by the Sidkeong Tulku Bird Sanctuary and crowned by the Pemayangtse Monastery estate. The main building houses the lobby, restaurants and 12 rooms on different levels.
