Shillong to host 100 years of Indian Cinema Film Festival

A three-day Indian Cinema Film Festival will be inaugurated on January 21, which also happens to be “41st Meghalaya Statehood Day” at U Soso Tham Auditorium, Shillong.

Meghalaya has been chosen by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting from amongst the northeastern states as the host venue to celebrate the centenary year of evolution of the Indian Cinema.

Bollywood stars and directors including Rahul Bose, Moon Moon Sen, Ria Sen, Anjan Dutt and Vivek Damle is confirmed to take part in the festival, reported by Shillong Times (Check out their update here).

Popular local films from Meghalaya like Manik Raitong (Khasi), Hep (Khasi) and Chake (Jaintia) will be screened during the festival.  Raja Harishchandra (1913), the first silent full length Indian feature film will also be screened along with the first ever Khasi film- ‘Ka Ri ki 30 Syiem’.
