Nagaland’s Purple Fusion premiered music video on VH1

These days, Northeast bands is on a mission, getting their music videos aired on popular music channels such as Vh1 and MTV.

The newly formed folk-fusion multi genres band Purple Fusion from Nagaland, is one of the latest bands joining the bandwagon. Its rousing first music video single, “TRING TRING – Marks of War,” which premiered Thursday (March 07) on VH1 India.

It’s a striking fusion musical message, and an equally striking video – a symbolic gesture. Artful and intense, for sure, but really, the true crystal-clear spirit to be found in “TRING TRING – Marks of War” comes when you read between the lines. Here watch it below:

Purple Fusion bandmates has been actively playing in different bands for a while until they decided get together as one chant — their bassist Mhathung Odyuo, was formerly with Divine Connection, who won MTV Rock On 2012 contest. Temsu Kichu, the drummer of the group has played with local bands such as Diatribe, Grafitti and Oleanders to add a few list. The vocalist Lamtsala Sangtam has been one of the voice coaches for the Naga Idol, an annual musical reality show of Nagaland, which is partially adopted from the popular American Idol talent hunt.

Formed in August 2012, the band have shared the stage with some big names, including John W Schlitt (Petra), Rahul Ram (Indian Ocean) and Rewben Mashangva- Father of Naga Folk Blues. Purple Fusion is currently battling in the global competition with Hard Rock Rising 2013, having won the first two qualifying rounds of the contest.

Tonight, the rapper from Tipura and Northeast India’s biggest YouTube celebrity —  Borkung Hrangkhawl will be airing his first music video “The Roots (Chini Haa)” on MTV roots at 9:00 PM.

The popular alternative band Boomarang from Mizoram has also released their latest music video “Home” on YouTube. According to their Facebook page status, ” Home will be featured in the upcoming Luke Kenny’s movie — Rize of the Zombies and you can watch it on 9XO and VH1″.
