The Woodpecker International Film Festival (WFF), known for its focus on issue-based cinema, has announced the call for entries for the 3rd edition of the festival to be held from Sept 17-20 at Siri Fort Auditorium, New Delhi.
This year, the festival will also introduce a new segment only on films and documentaries from North-East.

In the month of August
According to a released statement by WFF Founder Director Narender Yadav, “North-East constitutes one of the most culturally vibrant, ecologically rich and socially dynamic parts of the country. At the same the region has witnessed several phases of insurgency and violence. Films depicting various aspects of life in North-East are invited under this category.”
Dr. Ashish Chopra, a renowned TV host, culinary historian, festival advisor and someone who has travelled and documented North-East extensively was quoted saying, “This is going to be an exciting segment and one of the major highlights of this year’s festival. This year we have a special focus on the North East part of India – a land with diverse culture, tradition, music, cuisine beliefs, myths biodiversity and home to almost 400 tribes and sub tribes. The film makers from the North East are highly talented and WFF is going to be a fantastic platform to watch and appreciate their work.”

The Festival Jury for this year’s edition will be headed by Mr. Avijit Dutt. Along with Oscar Nominated director-producer, writer and actor Ms. Ajita Suchitra Veera, Nigerian writer and filmmaker Mr Onyeka Newuele, journalist Mr. Mihir Shrivastav and Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) Member Mr. Ashieem Kaisthaa.
