Acclaimed Bollywood music director-turned-film director and producer Vishal Bharadwaj is set to shoot his next film “Rangoon” in Arunachal Pradesh. The upcoming high-budget film, starring Saif Ali Khan, Sahid Kapoor and Kangana Ranaut is set against the backdrop of World War II where some Indian soldiers fought for the British army against Subhash Chandra Bose’s Indian National Army in Rangoon, Myanmar (formerly Burma).
On July 28, Bharadwaj lands in the state with entourage of 6 members. They visited Komsing Bridge Point, Bodak, Raneghat Rafting site, Partung, Pasighat, Ziro and a couple of other places to identify good locations for the film production.
During his two days visit to the picturesque Ziro valley, the six times National Film Awards winning filmmaker interacted with local filmakers and attended the screening of the Apatani science fiction film ‘Diinsopping’ at Mirage 3D amphitheatre, Hapoli.
According to local sources, the mogul for such hit movies including Ishqiya, Haider and Omkara have disclosed that he is fascinated by the overwhelming charm of Ziro valley, one of the finalized locations and the shooting will begin here in the month of October after the 4th edition of the Ziro Festival of Music.
In 1997, ‘Kolya’ starring Madhuri Dixit and Shahrukh Khan became the first Bollywood movie to be shot in pristine Arunachal Pradesh. The film attracted a lot of tourists to Shungetser, a sacred lake for the Buddhist Monpa tribe of Tawang.
