Aparajita Rai: Sikkim’s first female IPS Officer

Aparajita Rai the First Indian  Gorkha  Female  IPS Officer of Sikkim.

Aparajita Rai, 28-year-old Gorkha (Kirat Khambu Rai) lady makes her community and her late dad proud as she is appointed the first woman IPS officer of Sikkim, after holding 358th rank in UPSC 2012 Examinations. She had also cracked UPSC Examinations in 2011.

At a tender age of eight, she lost her father who was a divisional forest officer. She was raised up by her mother Roma rai, a school teacher and one elder sister who is a doctor.

According to Indiangorkhas.in, she was awarded a gold medal in Jurisprudence and Public Administration from the National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata, where she completed her BA LLB (Hons) in 2009. She secured 768th rank out of 920 in her first attempt itself of UPSC Civil Services examination in 2010.

Aparajita is not just a person with an impeccable academic record, she loves to play the guitar and doing aerobics. According to an exclusive interview with iSikkim.com in 2011, she admitted to have took a course in Bharatanatyam dance and a big fan of the German rock band Scorpions.

She is currently posted in Hoogly in West Bengal.
